Service

Bathroom Demolition

We remove wall tiles, floor tiles, the subfloor under the waterproofing, and fixed furnishings so that the waterproofer can start directly. We also handle the typical demolition risks of a wet room: keeping the floor drain clear, avoiding pipe breaks, and controlling structural moisture.

What the service includes

  1. Removal of wall and floor tiles plus underlying leveling compound
  2. Removal of old waterproofing and its substrate (chipboard/gypsum)
  3. Dismounting shower walls, cabinets and toilet bowl
  4. Protection of floor drain and sewer pipes during demolition
  5. Moisture measurement of structures if damage is suspected
  6. Dust protection, waste removal and final cleaning

What it's suitable for

Suitable for any apartment bathroom or house wet room undergoing renovation or post-water-damage demolition. We do not install waterproofing or new tiling — we can recommend a trusted certified installer as part of the chain.

Local context

A medium-sized bathroom (5–8 m²) is usually demolished in one day. When water damage is suspected, we always perform moisture measurement before demolition — this tells us whether the structure needs drying before re-surfacing.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Do I need to notify the housing company about bathroom demolition?
Yes, a wet-room renovation always requires a written renovation notice to the property manager and often also board approval, because the work affects water and sewer connections. A supervisor may be mandatory — check your housing company's instructions. We gladly draft the notice together with the customer.
Who does the waterproofing after demolition?
We have several VTT-certified waterproofing partners in the Helsinki metropolitan area, to whom we can hand the site directly after demolition is complete. The customer is of course free to choose their own installer — we hand over the structure wiped dry and at the level the next step requires.
What happens if you find moisture damage in the structure?
We stop and document the finding (photos + measurement readings) and hand the material over to the customer. Moisture damage assessment and repair planning are a specialty performed only by a certified condition surveyor — we don't do them ourselves. We don't continue demolition until the situation has been clarified and the customer has decided on the next steps.
Are floor tiles removed only at the surface or do you always go down to concrete?
Usually we go down to the concrete — the old waterproofing must always be removed before new installation, and its subfloor leveling typically comes off in the same pass. Surface-only demolition without waterproofing removal is not sufficient per the housing company's renovation notice for a wet room.
